VICTORIA'S SECRET A NO-SHOW

LINGERIE giant Victoria’s Secret is cancelling its annual television fashion show and it seems Janet Jackson may be partly to blame. Although the chain’s chief creative officer, Ed Razek, said that the main reason behind the decision was to allow the company to "look at new ways to promote the brand", it comes hot on the heels of an indecency crackdown by regulators following Jackson's now infamous breast-baring stunt. "We had to make the decision probably six to eight weeks ago, when the heat was on the television networks," he said. The announcement came a week after regulators proposed $495,000 in fines against Clear Channel Communications for sexual material on Howard Stern's show. The televised fashion show has, in the past, generated criticism from women's groups, for objectifying women. Olga Vives, vice president of the America's National Organisation for Women, welcomed the cancellation, saying that she hoped it would be permanent.

Well (for good or bad) Victoria's Secrets show is back with us and is being shown on Fashion TV, although only in a very short edit.
I enjoy the show, but to be honest it has very little (if anything) to do with fashion, it's just a glamour spectacular.
Maybe I'm getting old, but I actually prefer to see the models wearing less revealing clothing, I find some of the "outfits" rather silly and crude.

It won't stop me watching it though!

"Pretentious" is the word I would use to describe VS: it's an epithomy of today's world, the way VS made a name for themselves: hype the show, hype the models so nobody will actually bother to discuss the real value of the "clothes" (and that's said with sarcasm).

Yes, I agree with you.
I doubt any of the "clothes" have a real value!
The whole show's just 'eye-candy'.
