I've wanted to post this kind of topic for a while now.
So many girls post pictures of themselves, asking us if they can break into the biz.
Here are some hints:
Don't ask us. Sending pictures of yourself directly to legitimate agencies is the safest way to see if you have potential. You do not know who any of the internet users are, and their opinion usually doesn't indicate very much in regards to your potential. Professional agents or scouts are the people who can really tell you.
Research. The only way to really understand how things go, contact the agency or some sort of professional.
Always Listen to Jenni. The girl knows what she's talking about.
Kate Moss, Twiggy and Devon Aoki are exceptions. No ifs ands or buts, these three models were absolute exceptions. Don't use their heights as an excuse. they had amazing faces and were icons in the fashion industry. If you're short, I'm sorry, but don't expect fame.
P.S. ..... Who ever came up with the story that commercial models were short? |

let's hope. I just don't believe that a few strangers planted in front of a computer screen can really plan your future, you know? |

xD thank you! I do try. Remember, everything I say is what I personally learn from other professional's experiences and knowledge.
Actually, commercial models greatly vary. Visit several agency sites and look at their commercial section. You see all kinds of ladies with all kinds of heights. Sometimes I even see grandmas! I met a commercial model who was 5'4" the other day. She mainly does kids stuff though. VS I don't really consider "commercial" because it has lots of requirements of a fashion model.
One I love is that Kate, Twiggy, and Devon are exceptions. NOBODY has their face. NOBODY who was too short that posted here are anywhere near the potential of those. I hate to be so rude, but its true.
If you are 5'7" or shorter, forget being a fashion model. Chase another dream. If you are really young and come from a tall gene pool, good luck growing.
Really, the agencies requirements are a great wake up call. Research. When I started I didn't ask people on the net. Maybe I got lucky? |
