I'm interested in becoming a model but all the models I've seen are generally in the 5'9" to 5'11" range. I'm 6'0.5" tall and 16 years old. Is this too tall? Also I would like to know if my face is the right shape and if I have the right look to be a model. I don't think I look like any of the models out there. I think my face might be the wrong shape. I currently have braces but they are coming off in less than 2 months. I think I'm thin enough, even though from what I read my waist might not be small enough. I think I'm around a size 5 but I'm not sure because sizes today aren't standardized. I weight about 130 pounds. If it makes a difference, I don't diet or exercise to have my body that size, in fact, I eat a ton and most of my food isn't exactly food for being healthy or losing weight. I just naturally have a good metabolism and don't gain weight no matter waht/how much I eat. I heard that agencies love it when people are like this? I also have the problem of living in a small town on an island, 4-5 hours away from the nearest major city (Vancouver). Could anyone here honestly tell me if they think I have the face to be a model and give me any other advice? Thank you. |

Hi megan,
There are a few 6' plus successful models out there, so don't worry overmuch about your height, actually being too short is a bigger issue.
I'm no expert, but your figure looks just great for modelling and as to your face, well you're a very pretty young lady, but who knows what type of face is in at the moment? Only model agencies can tell you that I'm afraid. The whole industry is very fickle and changeable, so it's almost impossible to predict what the models of tomorrow will look like.
The very best of luck to you,
Best wishes,
deebee |

I took some measurements yesterday, but as I couldn't find a cloth measuring tape I had to use a piece of string then measure the string with a ruler haha. Anyways, I got 33 for my chest, 25 for my waist, and 36 for my hips. Does it matter if I have size 11 feet? Or would I just have to cram my feet into size 8 shoes all the time? |

I really couldn't say about your shoe size, but I doubt that it would be a major issue. As for your vital statistics I'd say that they are OK, but as I see it only a model agency can really help you with your questions and concerns. There are however some members on this site in a far better position than I to answer your questions, let's hope you have some more replies.

Thanks deebee! I took some pictures with no makeup on, my hair back, different angles etc. I put them in the photo album I put a link up for above. Haha, the pics with the fake smiles look pretty bad with the braces but thats ok. I took the pics myself so they aren't the best quality, sorry lol. |

You're welcome,
There's no need for apologies, it's difficult to take your own picture and hold a good pose, I know because I've tried it myself, but you've done a pretty good job. As for the fake smiles, well how many models smile these days?!
Best wishes,

Hi Megan,
I think you are a very pretty girl. You also seem to have a sweet personality, which I want to compliment you on. I enjoyed looking through your pictures, and found that you remind me very much of a childhood friend of mine! That is a compliment too! I think it was pictures #7 and #8 down that were my favorite.
I just wanted to add my opinion along with deebee's, even though I am not an expert. Many model agency websites have an icon reading "Become a Model", etc. Perhaps this would be an option for you to consider. I'm not sure how it works, but I would think that you would give them your contact info and maybe some photos? If you would like, I will try to find some web addresses, etc for you to go to. Just let me know.
Best Wishes, Megan! |

I'm not an expert either, but listen to these guys. Read everything you can about the modeling industry and how to become a model and such (there's a lot of good posts on this forum) and educate yourself so that you don't get taken advantage of.
Anyway, you're a real pretty girl, prettier than plenty of fashion models I have seen, but whether you are what anyone in the industry WANTS right now nobody can say for sure until you go out there and present yourself to some agencies and see if someone bites.
I think modeling can be a hard life and there are lots of people who are looking to prey on models and wannabe models, but if that's REALLY what you want to do then educate yourself about it and go in with open eyes.
Also, there are many many carreers to be had in the fashion industry besides modeling. If you work hard and come to a good school in NYC like Parsons or the Fashion Institute, or NYU or whatever, it can open up a lot of doors that you maybe hadn't considered, as well as putting you within walking distance of all the top agencies; it's amazing what a good ticket school can be.
Best,
Alistair |

Hi megan,
You have an attractive looking avatar, is it Tiiu Kuik, if you don't mind my asking?
Thanks in anticipation,
