I Need Advice

I want to get into modeling and acting. My parents don't support that though, they want me to do something more "worthwhile" and don't want me to "gamble" my life on something that might not happen. How should I start if I don't have the right support? I'm 13 btw.

You need to follow your dreams and your heart regardless of what anyone else tells you!

I am an artist, and although it makes no sense to go into the arts and hardly anyone "makes it", I followed my dreams! (Luckily in my case I have a supportive family. Then again, I come from a family of artist types!) I am by no means famous in what I do, but I have had many art shows lately, have sold my work, etc. (I realize I am discussing a different art form here, but it's the best comparison I can make.)

Others here could give you advice on modeling. As for acting, my advice would be to learn as many skills in the performing arts as possible. Definitely keep practicing the craft of acting! However, at some point in time take voice lessons, dance/movement classes, etc. Also, figure out if you are more interested in stage acting or film acting. There IS a big difference between the two. You will have plenty of opportunity to explore stage acting at school (assuming your school has a halfway decent theater department), but it might be challenging to get experience in film acting. If that's your thing, make friends with the AV nerds in high school and act in their student film projects! Very Happy
