Does anyone know the significance of the blue star tattoos that some models have on their inner wrists? I have noticed that many models have them all in the same place. I know that Gisele Bündchen has one, and I think Marcelle Bittar has one. There are others, but I can't remember their names. The stars are small with dark blue outline and no color in the middle. Does this represent Brazil in some way? Also, Ana Beatriz Barros has a tattoo on her ankle. I think it is a star and sword (Symbol of Islam?). Can anyone fill me in? Just curious.
Thanks! |

Hi heather,
All my efforts to resolve this one have so far been in vain I'm afraid. The only references I can find regarding blue star tattoos are related to temporary tattoos that were erroneously believed to contain LSD so as to get children onto drug taking - how horrible.
If you have any luck, I'd be very interested to know.

Well, when I Googled Gisele, I managed to come across the reason for her tattoo, but surely the reason is not the same for other models and actresses I have seen with the same tattoo in the same place So here's what I found on a website called www.linter.org/stories
"Every night, Gisele would throw open her bedroom window and step outside onto the small balcony. There, as taught by her grandmother, she would fall to her knees and look up at the stars and choose one to be the focus of her prayers......"
"Her first night in New York, she threw open her bedroom window and tried to find a star outside on which to pray. She was there for hours, thinking, "There must be one star in this fucking sky, so where is the star?" And when she finally gave up, she thought, "This is bullshit!" And the next day, she went right out and got a star tattoo on the soft skin on the inside of her left wrist."
Here is a photo of Gisele from behind where you can see her tattoo.....

Hey, did you know that Gisele's full name is:
Gisele Carolina Nonnenmacher Bündchen?
I did not know this. Maybe I was the only one!
I tried to find something on Marcelle Bittar's tattoo, but no luck. |

Hi heather,
That link that you have posted looks a bit suspect to me
Thanks for the interesting information not only did I not know Gisele's full name but I didn't even know Marcelle's sir name was Bittar either, I've only ever known her as Marcelle!
Incidentally New York is just like London, you certainly won't see many if any stars in the night sky, they are all sadly blotted out by the artificial lighting.
To be honest heather I really don't like tattoos on women or for that matter on men either, however a small and delicate tattoo that can be easily concealed is not too bad on a woman.

Hmmm... I hate to be the cynic here, but that story just sounds a little too candyland to be anything more than PR, lol.

Candyland, Alistair? Hey, I loved playing that game when I was a kid! Anyway....I don't know if that story is true or not, but there were loads of results on Google that said the same thing. But like I said, if it's true, then why would other people have the SAME one? Doesn't make sense to me.
Deebee, I'm not sure what you saw when you clicked on that first link, but the reason I was confused was because I ended up being taken to two different places, depending on which browser (or whatever-you-call-it) I used. My isp uses their own special browser (Gopher? It's named after an animal), and it works differently than Internet Explorer, which I also can access. For some strange reason, when I clicked on the link using IE, it took me to a page on the website where I found Gisele's photo, but not the one I intended. When I used my default browser and clicked on the link, it pulled up the photo that I intended. Very strange. I don't know why it does that. Also, on my default browser, I cannot view complete model profiles on FMD (ex. The only text I can view is from the name down to the agencies). With IE, I can see everything, including magazine covers, hobbies, etc. |
