Becoming a model - luck or hard work?

Lots of young people all over the world dream of modelling career. And somehow many of them succeed. What do you think is decisive factor - hard work or luck?

Many of them become so desperate for money they start prostituting. About 10 times as many "models" dont't suceed we just don't hear about them.

Apparently ignorance is bliss.

So, does this mean that no matter how hard you work, if there's no luck you will not succeed?

I think it's a combination of both luck and hard work. It depends on where the industry is, if you have a look that the industry is loving right now then no problem for you to make it big. If you have this new look that the industry hasn't seen in a long time or ever, then if they're ready to embrace that look-then hey you're gonna make it big. But, for those models that don't have a unique quality, the cookie cutter-type models, it'll take a lot of hard work for them to make it big as models. Either way, it all depends if you got it or not, if not then don't bother-it's not the end of the world.
