For all of you hopeful models out there I would just like to clarify a few things. 1- Girls if you are under 5 ft 8 in by 16- 18 years of age, sorry you don't have a chance in high fashion modeling. Move on and stop dwelling over the fact that you aren't the height and never will be. Pursue another ambition. 2- If you are over 5 ft 8, don't rely on others opinions of you to base the deicision of whether or not you could make it in the indusry. Send some photos to your nearest agency. End of story. 3- Cut the crap about how everyone says " Oh I should model". Unless they are a model scout or agent, don't take it to heart. They don't have a clue about what they are talking about. 4- Have a nice personality. Be positive. It is so important to be a happy person. Love yourself. Be confident. If you don't love yourself, who will..
5- Take care of yourself. Be sure to make routine visits to your doctor. Eat healthy, exercise daily, etc. Never let some people get inside your head and allow them to influence the way you view yourself. If someone tells you you need to lose weight f*** them. Look at Ali Stephens. I pride her in coming out and telling her story. Don't ruin your life possibly the opportunity to have children over designers plea for you to cut your life span by unhealthily shedding pounds. |

I think that people who are interested to get into modeling instead of even ask here, on FMD, "do I have a potential", should go to the agency or email them photos, and get their opinion what they think. In many cases I see here girls who I personally think have nothing to do with modeling, even if they are 5'10 or 5'11. In many cases I don't respond to their "do I have a potential?" topics, because the answer is No, there is no potential. To avoid being called mean and rude, I just ignore these topics. But I believe that the agency is the best people to ask, and only their respond will matter. |

I think the problem is that they don't really know how to submit their photos? *shrug*
Or what kind of appropriate photos to use? Either way, I like this advice. If you aren't at least 5'8", forget fashion/runway dreams. It's not going to happen. It's quite true.
and Ali Michael's awesome. She thought her career was over, but really now she's a lot more embraced by the public.
Agencies don't know your success probability. It's always going to be your clients. Agencies just invest in you if they see anything. |

Right, but agency know what the client wants, which girl is best for each client. Girls who want to try modeling should use this directory getting address or websites of the agencies and submitting their photos directly to them. If the agency will like the girl, they will respond within days. If not, no responds. Placing photos here to get our opinions is waste of time. Everyone trying to be nice and start with the words "you are pretty, but too short". The answer should be - NO, no potential. |

Nice, i like how you're blunt and direct.
I wish i could model, i'm 5'7 and a half... but i don't think my face is special enough, but i'm only 13, so maybe i'll grow... |

Alright, but honey, don't rely on us. You'll get your real answer from agencies.
Also in Milano, you have to be TALL, very tall. Its their Market. Whereas in Asia you can be a bit shorter. It all depends on the market you go into.
Also, if you are short you better have an AMAZING face, noy just a beautiful or pretty face. It has to be different. I don't know of any really ugly models. I'm not aware of any anyways. |
