Hi all!

Ok. So ever since becoming an adolecent I've been told I should model. I sent pictures to like maybe 4 different agencies (and of course the big ones...IMG, Ford, Elite...) when I was in high school, and they all told me I was a little bit short for what they were looking for and best of luck. So I kinda gave up on it, pursued college, and wasted about 5 years. About a year ago a (former fashion) photographer came into the store where I worked and told me a should consider print work and told me about a project going on but sadly by the time I contacted them, they had found all the models they needed. I didn't really consider pursuing much further again because I was still in school and working....etc.etc. So here I am now. I'm at a turning point in my life and I don't want to let that dream die just yet if it's still at all a reality (because if it is, it won't be much longer!). I'm 5' 7" and 23 years old. I know I don't fit into the "range" but I also know there are exceptions. I still have people comment to me that I should be a model, but then again they're not model scouts. I'd like to know what you all think because I'm considering flying to nyc to go to open calls...I think. Although I've heard that they send you out the door if you don't meet the requirements, so maybe I should just send pictures. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated....

Also....if I don't have a chance in the big market, where is the best place to find work elsewhere?

Km you are supercute you should come to work i Los Angeles. small bods look good onscreen i bet you would get extra work in scene footage or club shoots. Grow your hair longer tho.

5'7" is a bit short, 23 years a bit too old to start right now (but it's ok for print and PR). Open calls in NY are very selected, except for 2nd and 3rd level agencies.
Never thought about becoming an actress? Smile

Ha! I don't know what kind of an actress I would make. Should I change my question to "am I too short and over-the-hill to be an actress?" Razz

Thank you cc! This is probably a completely retarded question, but what exactly do you mean by scene footage or club shoots? Could you elaborate on the "look"? I'm seriously considering all my options here.... Gotta get what's left of my youth back! haha..

Thanks again for the feedback!

You should come to la. That is still way young. Tons of indie filmmakers are looking for people to be in their films and SAG need extras. You look like the type who could really get approached by agents out here. Just walking around.

Ok, I have another idea.....what about modeling in Japan?? I read that models are typically 5' 7" to 5' 11" and 14-24 yrs old. Should I go for it? And WHERE would I go for it? I know absolutely nothing about that market or how to find an agency. What do you all think...anyone, anyone?

Well. To be honest. Most US Models who work in Japan are signed in the U.S. AND Japan.
They have allianced agencies or even have divisions in Asia (like Elite)
