Right now I was trying to Google up some info on this subject. I found an article here, http://slate.msn.com/id/100523, but it's 2 1/2 years old.
I think I remember a website (SALTYT maybe?) that kept track of "the last time a model was on the cover of ____ magazine," and I thought I'd post about it here to learn and discuss.
Is this an American occurence? My August Elle's got Kiera Knightly on the cover and my August Vogue's cover is Sarah Jessica Parker. Is this the case in Europe, South America and Asia?
I wouldn't mind seeing more models on covers. But the fact is the magazines have to sell and that means having an actress on the display rack. Is this accurate?

There are the same tendencies in here in Europe. personally I don't mind seeing more actresses on the covers. i think models have been too overrated the past few years. |

...with actresses being in fashion magazines. Since most actresses are shorter than the average model, it's actually good for the "regular folks" who read these magazines. We would get to see how clothes look on people who are closer to our height (although actresses are much slimmer than most) However, what I find odd is more in with the fashion industry itself. One minute, they say that a 5'3 woman would not look as good in their clothes as a 5'10 model, and the next minute they sign a petite actress, singer or athlete as their spokesmodel. What's with that?? |

I have to agree with you! Eva Longoria mostly definitely is skinny! (A size 0 or smaller if I recall correctly.) However, she can't be that tall. |

I want to see models on the covers of fashion
magazines. Looks like that most European magazines
follow that. Unfortunately, American Vogue has very
rare photos of models on the cover. I guess Anna
Wintour thinks that Hollywood actresses can attract
more readers. Last year Keira Knightley was twice on
the cover. This is ridiculous. I buy every month
Numero, V, Italian and Paris Vogue, Russian Vogue to
see my favorite girls. Fashion magazines should have
fashion models. We all tired from same boring faces of
Eva Longoria, Lindsay, Jessica Alba, etc. |

I'm so bored of seeing the same face on every cover! ( Jessica Albe, Charlize Therron, Sarash J Parker Keira) It gets so repetitive... |
